It is a great feeling to have the opportunity to be back rowing this weekend (12th and 13th September) after a 6 month break. We successfully managed to get 2 crews out rowing safely with everyone playing their part by obeying to all the new safety measures we have put in place.
The last time we was on the water was on the 16th March at our first regatta, the day before lockdown.
Having this opportunity to participate in the sport we love, even if it is for a short period will help with everyone’s mental health and wellbeing during this very difficult time for all. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!
A tremendous effort has been made to ensure we abide by the CPGA and British Rowing COVID-19 secure guidelines. It has been well worth the effort! We have a created a comprehensive Risk Assessment and arranged mandatory preparation sessions last weekend (5th & 6th September) to ensure all rowers and coxswains had been informed of the new procedures put in place. This was also a chance to rehearse them to iron out any issues before we actually put into practice.
Amazing to be back on the water. Porlock Weir, we 💙 you!
